Make sure you are in pole position to join thousands of others in enjoying the fabulous Ormskirk MotorFest on Sunday 28 August, one of the North West's biggest free family events.

More than 300 fantastic cars and motorcycles from all eras of motoring are expected to be on display on Moor Street, Aughton Street and Coronation Park.

Among them will be cars of members of the Bentley Drivers Club, which is bringing a model of Bentley for every decade starting from the 1920s.

The club is 80 years old in 2016 and has 3,800 members worldwide who compete in races and events all over the world. More than 200 members recently took part in a major event in Monaco.

Other fabulous cars lining up will include fantastic Ferraris, fabulous US Muscle cars from the American Auto Club North West and even more bubble cars! The vehicles on display will cover over a century of motoring and automotive heritage and history, the oldest vehicle being the locally entered 1906 Franklin of long time Motorfest supporter, David White.

Ormskirk MotorFest is a free event organised by Aintree Circuit Club and supported by West Lancashire Borough Council.

The MotorFest fun starts about 11am and runs through until about 5pm. MotorFest visitors can see many of the cars in action and hear the roar of the engines during parade laps around Ormskirk town centre between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Northern is providing special trains from Preston to Ormskirk specially for Ormskirk MotorFest so motoring fans can come to the extravaganza from the Preston area. More details can be found at www.northernrailway.co.uk

Former Top Gear presenter Steve Berry is our guest commentator and will be one of the judges for the Concours d'Elegance competition in Coronation Park.

As well as all the fabulous cars an extra attraction at Park Pool will see the army display an array of amazing equipment including an assault course, climbing wall, field guns, trucks and cranes of all shapes. The public can inspect the equipment and try out the assault course and climbing wall. Soldiers will be on hand to answer questions about a career in the army.

Mike Ashcroft, Aintree Circuit Club chairman, said: "We are really excited about all the marvellous cars and motorcycles coming to Ormskirk MotorFest. It will be a fantastic day out for people of all ages, so come along and enjoy the fun."

The Ormskirk MotorFest is a real family day out and the crowds can also enjoy the fantastic Vintage and Handmade Fair taking place on the same day. A great selection of stalls selling art and crafts, retro, vintage and up-cycled wares will be set up in the Chapel Gallery and bus station car park. Fabulous entertainment will be provided by a Charlie Chaplin look alike, the Cotton Town Hot Club and vintage DJs, and there will be creative activities for families. Trinity Girls' Brass Band will perform at Coronation Park bandstand between 2pm and 4pm, and the Merchant Taylors Sax Jazz Group will also provide musical entertainment in the town centre and at the park's bandstand.

Councillor John Hodson, West Lancashire Borough Council portfolio holder for Planning, said: "Don't miss the magical MotorFest, which really has something for everyone. This will be a fantastic day for everyone who comes along, and we hope local businesses will take advantage of so many people being around to open their doors for the day."

A regular park and ride vintage bus service, priced at £5 per car, will operate from Edge Hill University for the MotorFest, starting at 10am. The service will take a break for the parade laps from 2.10pm and then resume for a short time at 4.30pm until MotorFest finishes.
